Preaching to the choir

I wish we would have gotten her first attempt on video. It was so much more ungraceful and that much more fun to watch.
(yes that noise is from Enola)
and for those of you who asked last post She is dancing to "Some Nights" by FUN.  She was showing me how the lead singer danced in the video.

Jett on the other hand is less spazmatic.

Send donations to the Homestead c/o Aimee Mahana.
We thank you

So although I have over 100!! pictures to download on my camera it says there is nothing on there to download so you are going to miss the pic of dad in his fancy field worker hat installing not one but TWO new trees, here he is trying to figure out how to get the 800lb decorative rock out of the back of his truck.

Don't you worry all you Jett fans he will be in the next post.  I really only had one picture of him on my phone and it was when he passed out in the back seat of my car.  But here is one of Enola and I after one of our YW activities that went off the rails.
Aint she pretty, the blonde aint so bad either :)

A little of nothing

These are just some of the ways we find Cat

He's not rolling, this is how he lays.

We have more pictures but I can't find them.

Our fire season has been crazy
The "Dump Fire" to our West

"Wood Hollow" to our South.
"Quail Fire" to our West
Stupid new blog is ruining everything.  Sorry it looks so weird for the last 2. But you get the idea

I already apologized on my blog

A lot happens in 2 months but I only have pictures for...

 Enola got grey contacts because....

She is obsessed with the British tv show Sherlock.
This is a Sherlock pose by the way.

Last time I posted Jett hadn't started baseball and now the season is over.  They went all season without
being defeated at loosing.
He did awesome when he played catcher.  When he was in the outfield he would get bored and start dancing or playing in the dirt.

He had no fear.  It was so fun to watch him catch.  If a runner on third would get too far off the base he would chase them all the way back.  One time he got close to tagging the kid out by running from home.  Even the other catchers mom liked watching Jett play catch cause he was so funny.

This picture doesn't show it but he got quite a few hits.

We called him the Threat when we ran the dirty dash (see my blog) because in soccer and baseball he is so fast the other teams didn't know what to do.  He would steal second and not stop, one time the short stop had the ball and he flew past him to third.  No fear.

I could never slide like this kid does.  He will slid hit the bag and pop right up. Just like a pro.

I wish I would have gotten the inning before because he stole home and WAS safe, this one, not so close :)
I'm partial to watching him play baseball because I love to play it myself but he says he likes soccer more.  I hope he continues to play both though because it was so much fun to go to the games.

I can't believe my gorgeous little sister is 15! I let her drive about once a week.  Last night I even let her move my car from one side of the church to the other (without me there).  Bad news for me is she forgot to take the emergency brake off and doesn't understand how to be gentle when putting on the brakes.  Which made her real nervous driving to night games later that night.

Gone

Although this is a week later than what I had hoped for here goes nothing.
Here is Jett in his new baseball uniform. I don't know when he starts but doesn't he look so happy? He had a soccer game a week or two ago and he did really well. He scored two goals. In soccer that's huge!

This is what we find Pops doing a lot now. He started his new job and is officially done with the chemical plant now. He doesn't have to work crazy rotating shifts anymore and gets to be home every night, so that's nice.

Enola wanted me to take a picture of her with her new fat ring. She says it's her "nightloc" ring or something. Apparently she's now a vampire and that makes it so she can walk in the sun. She finally got to go see "The Hunger Games" thank heavens cause now we don't have to hear the daily countdown, she still squeals when she talks about it though.

Where all the kids love of reading comes from.

Chris and I like to play games. We invited Jett and Pops to play Yahtzee with us. We taught Jett how to play (Chris' look and teaching Jett are unrelated) and since he and Pops were sucking it up the quit after round two. (babies)

A rare appearance

by madre herself
I'm sure this is how they feel about each other a lot of the time
but this is more of the reality
Enola got her very own "hooker boots" (ask Jenni) she is very proud of them. We went to the store this night and as we are walking out she said, "I'm legit. All I need is a bluetooth, IPad and purse and I'll be set." This girls makes me laugh. On the way home I was being irritably sarcastic about a driver and said something along the lines of "Can you go any slower?" Enola then informs me, "Well he can always go slower, be thankful he's going as fast as he is." I couldn't help but smile and then tell her she was a dork.
Next time I will tell you about how vain she is and how the scare war is on. But if you've already seen my blog you will know it was pie day on the 14th (I'm glad Enola reminds us of this holiday)
Lets not forget about Jett....he tries out for baseball today. He is still my favorite little man and my worst enemy. I LOVE his guts.

Who's my hero?

Mom was cleaning out her office the other day and came across these beautiful letters written about Grandpa I thought I would share so others can get as much delight out of them that I did.
And being that it will be 14 years this month that he passed away I thought it would be nice to read up a bit on what others thought of him.

Grandpa was my hero in so many ways. I wish I was able to get to know him better but am so lucky that I was able to spend the time I had with him.
"He had arms and a chest that would embarrass Clark Kent." Love it!!!
Every girl growing up wishes she had a man like Captain Moroni (see Alma 48:17) and I have decided Grandma found her Captain Moroni.
I scanned the letters in so if you can't read them (sorry the one is sideways) let me know and I will email you a copy or something....

Shout Hooray

Jett had a birthday

So did mom a week later but we didn't take any pictures because we didn't do anything but give her what she wanted. To sleep in and no fighting!

He is not a morning person and was up early for his birthday on a Sat when he could have slept in.
Pops stopped on his way home from work and picked up birthday doughnuts.
Later that night Jett and a bunch of his friends went bowling and he had a grand time. (from what I hear)

Need I say more?

The kids love to play football with Chris. She was so proud because although she fell she caught the ball.

Getting ready to hurl it right into my flower bed no doubt.

For German Enola had to make food for a project. She made a pork roast and potato dumplings. It smelled funny to me but apparently everyone in the class really like it and she got an A.

This spoiled little man got a Kindle Fire for his birthday from the parents and a football from Chris and I. Guess which one he uses more?

I let Enola permanently borrow my Big sunglasses so she did what she normally does. She took a picture of her cute face.

As I promised

Not when I promised though.

If you know Enola you know she gets really bad bloody noses, and this sometimes happens during them. Totally real and creepy cool at the same time.

I love the sound of the cello, even if it is the same note being practiced over and over and it doesn't always have that "lovely" sound.

Chris was kind enough to take Enola out and teach her how to drive a stick shift in my car. She did really good. I went out to see where they went and thought it was Chris driving up the street. Besides taking corners a wee too fast and needing to learn how to ease into the brakes instead of slamming them on and oh yeah trying to not drop my transmission by shifting from 2 to reverse. She did really well. Chris said she stalled once at the beginning and then he had her start and stop again and she did great.
She can't really be that old can she?

He can play the whole song but he didn't have the music in front of him and this was just from memory.

(Sorry about the spacing issue and the captions being above the next picture not under the correct one. )

My bad

Sorry about the lack of posts. I have just been too busy giving my family hugs... This girl decided to read 59 books for the year 2011 and finished 57. She didn't meet her goal but I know when I was 14 I didn't have any sort of ambition to read a book a week (at least) and I love to read. In this picture she has already started on her new goal of 65 books. She likes the "kindle", I prefer old fashion paper pages, but alas I am from the old generation.

I bought everyone their own personal bottle of sparkling cider for New Years. I enjoyed my big girl sippie cup. And I'm pretty sure everyone but me and Pops were pretending to be drunk. (Pops always looks that way)

Pops is teaching himself how to play the guitar, he does pretty good but I have to admit I love it when he wears the head phones, ONLY because he turns the distortion on the AMP up so high it "ruins"? it.

Pops also had his "Mormon Horn" removed. The Dr. said he had tough skin, literally :)

It accidentally erased a couple of pictures of Jett with his guitar and Enola with her cello. Since my keyboard is broken and the pictures are on my computer it takes me twice as long to fix things. But I promise I will have a post of the kids and their musical talents within the week. PROMISE!
